Bracketology

I filled out my NCAA brackets this morning. Having zero college basketball knowledge (my school doesn't do the intercollegiate sports thing), it's very much like Battleship--hit or miss, but mostly miss. This year, I employed a slightly more specific technique.

From the 1st Round: Higher Ranked Seed
(With the exception of Cornell, in honor of one Andrew Benard.)

From the 2nd Round: Longer Names
(In case of a tie, it went to the lower letter of the alphabet.)

From the Sweet 16: More realisitc names for my future children
(This helps explain why Marquette made it so far.)

From the Elite 8: Presence of blue in the school colors

From Semi-finals: Cooler mascots

National Champions: Flipped a coin--North Carolina was heads for the win!

srah is making me do this...Is Gonzaga in the tourney? Because if they is, I'm rooting for them. Also Xavier. I love wierd sounding school names!

There is a hilarious sketch from the Peyton Manning SNL that perfectly encapsulates this bracket-filling-out madness...I apologize in advance for the crazy-long link (it's the last video displayed, bottom of the page).

Megan--the vid didn't work, but thanks to the handy dandy snl transcripts site, I was able to read it. And it was indeed hilarious!
"They should call them the miniature bulldogs!"

I have invited you to come try your strategy in my Facebook group thing. I like that you have a system, whereas mine is just kind of willy-nilly.

I just filled mine out last night! :)
I had NO clue whatsoever what I was doing but it's still fun to see how well you do in the end (OR how well you DON'T do!)
Good luck!!!
